Orpheus Male Chorus of Phoenix

The Orpheus Male Chorus of Phoenix has been a vibrant part of Arizona’s cultural fabric for nearly a century. Founded in 1929, Orpheus is the state’s longest-standing choral organization, known for its musical excellence, wide-ranging repertoire, and deep commitment to community connection.

Now in its 96th season, Orpheus brings together a diverse group of men from across the Phoenix Valley—teachers, students, retirees, professionals—united by a shared passion for singing and service. Each voice contributes to a unique sound that celebrates tradition while embracing innovation, blending classical, sacred, and contemporary music in compelling and accessible ways.

But Orpheus is more than a performing group. It’s a community-centered organization that uses music to uplift, heal, and connect. Our performances go beyond the concert hall, reaching veterans, students, and older adults—including those living with dementia—through meaningful outreach and educational programs. Whether it’s inspiring the next generation of male singers through our Bass-Tenor Festival, collaborating with the Phoenix Children’s Chorus on our annual intergenerational concert, Legacy, or bringing music to memory care communities, Orpheus strives to ensure everyone has access to the joy and power of choral music.

Throughout its history, Orpheus has represented Arizona on the national and international stage—performing at Carnegie Hall, touring across Europe and Asia, and appearing before dignitaries including President John F. Kennedy, Pope John Paul II, and Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands. Yet, even with these remarkable milestones, our focus remains grounded in people and place: engaging local audiences, building community, and fostering a welcoming environment for members, patrons, and partners alike.
