The Hero Workshop is a non-profit organization located in Culver City, California that organizes and runs games of Dungeons and Dragons for kids. Founded in 2019 as an afterschool program, The Hero Workshop incorporated as a 501c3 non-profit in 2020 and opened our community center in May of 2022. We currently host over 30 games a week at 5 local schools and our community center, serving over 175 kids each week.
As a youth organization, The Hero Workshop is happy to highlight the benefits of playing table top role playing games (TTRPGs) like Dungeons and Dragons.
As a cooperative game, any TTRPG is going to provide a structure for many soft skills commonly sought after in a professional setting such as collaboration, improved social skills, the ability to clearly communicate complex and creative ideas to a group, and consensus building. In addition, complex games like Dungeons and Dragons provide a great framework for improving many academic skills as well, such as math and algebra, statistical analysis, creative problem solving, reading and writing, and of course storytelling. We like to highlight the fact that we have 3rd graders eagerly doing basic algebra problems to find out how much damage their sword swing just did to a troll.
We would love to hear from you, and are always looking out for new ways to expand our community and offer unique, memorable experiences through our shared hobby. Please reach out to us at your earliest convenience if you have any questions or would like to learn more about The Hero Workshop!
