In a world experiencing a growing epidemic of loneliness and disconnection, Growing Kindness exists to cultivate connection, care, and belonging — one garden, one flower, one act of kindness at a time.
Inspired by the spirit of historic Victory Gardens, Growing Kindness is a global nonprofit movement rooted in a simple yet powerful idea: when people grow flowers and give them freely, both the giver and the receiver are transformed. Across continents and communities, individuals are reclaiming gardening not just as a hobby, but as a meaningful pathway to healing, generosity, and human connection.
Our global community of volunteer Gardeners — from backyard growers to experienced flower farmers — grow flowers first as an act of self-care, then share those flowers as tangible expressions of kindness. Home-grown bouquets are given to neighbors experiencing loneliness, healthcare workers and first responders, veterans, individuals in hospice care, shelters, food banks, and countless others in moments where beauty and care matter most.
Since our founding, Growing Kindness has facilitated the sharing of thousands of freely given floral gifts, reaching communities around the world and creating ripples of connection that extend far beyond a single bouquet. These acts may be small in scale, but their impact is deeply human — reminding people they are seen, valued, and not alone.
Growing Kindness empowers individuals of all ages and backgrounds to participate through accessible garden education, storytelling, and community support. Our programs emphasize simplicity, encouragement, and sustainability — meeting people where they are and helping them grow with confidence. We remove financial barriers so that under-resourced individuals can access garden education and coaching ensuring that kindness remains inclusive and accessible.
At the heart of Growing Kindness is community. Through our online hub and storytelling platforms, Gardeners connect across distance and difference — sharing their gardens, their stories, and their acts of generosity. These shared stories affirm a powerful truth: meaningful change does not always begin with grand gestures, but with ordinary people choosing care, again and again.
In 2025, Growing Kindness expanded its storytelling efforts through the Growing Kindness Podcast, amplifying stories of everyday kindness, personal transformation, and the profound emotional and mental health benefits of giving. Through conversations with Gardeners, community leaders, and thought partners, the podcast invites listeners to rediscover hope, purpose, and connection through simple acts of care.
Looking ahead, Growing Kindness continues to grow as a donor-powered organization, sustained by individuals who believe that kindness is not a side project — it is essential work. Donor support fuels the steady, behind-the-scenes work that allows this movement to thrive: nurturing volunteers, expanding access, stewarding stories, and ensuring that flowers — and the care they represent — continue to reach those who need them most.
Together, we are growing something lasting: a world where kindness is practiced, shared, and deeply rooted in everyday life.
