The Defeating Epilepsy Foundation was founded by Natalie Boehm, a disability advocate who has battled epilepsy her entire life. Despite being able to get her seizures under control, Natalie has experienced firsthand the stigma and discrimination people with epilepsy face. It is her goal to educate society about epilepsy and help remove the stigma so people with epilepsy can have a better quality of life.
The Defeating Epilepsy Foundation provides advocacy and educational resources. Our community resources provide information for nutrition, mental health, parents, public transportation, service dogs, veterans resources, and legal resources. The Defeating Epilepsy Foundation has a blog and YouTube channel with information on different types of epilepsy, seizures, conditions related to epilepsy, and interviews with people with epilepsy as well as medical professionals.
We provide scholarships for college students battling epilepsy and grants for individuals with uncontrolled epilepsy and veterans with TBI, epilepsy, and/or PTSD to be able to gain access to a medical alert dog. Our Workforce Development Program helps individuals not just with epilepsy, but other neurological and neurodivergent conditions gain access to tools and resources to find gainful employment.
Our goal is to help individuals with epilepsy have access to resources to help them have better educational and economic opportunities and have the resources needed to have a better quality of life. We encourage you to reach out with any questions you have regarding our work. Thank you for your support and together we will defeat epilepsy.
