Since we opened the doors to our first warehouse just 5 years ago, we have rescued and distributed over 26,000,000 pounds of food. We currently rescue 800,000 to 900,000 pounds of food a month and provide free groceries to 2,200 families each week in NE Florida.

We have 2 warehouses, 1 in St. Augustine and 1 in Palatka, that are set up like grocery stores so our patrons can "shop" for the food they need. We do 21 distributions a week and only 4 of those are from our warehouses. The rest are mobile distributions where we do home deliveries to homebound seniors and people with disabilities, set up farmers market style shopping in low income neighborhoods, and do drive through distributions. Our goal is to make food as accessible as possible to people in need.
Food rescue goes beyond providing good, healthy, and nutritious food to families. It is helping to move the needle on a serious environmental problem. Annually, food waste is the largest component in landfills and accounts for 8% of all greenhouse gas emissions. When food decomposes without the benefit of oxygen, it emits Methane gas which is 10x more harmful to earth’s atmosphere than are excess CO2 emissions.
• The 26,000,000 pounds of food our volunteers have helped divert from landfills has prevented 31,749 tons of CO2 gas from harming our atmosphere.
If the Methane gas wasn’t bad enough, we use approximately 21% of our freshwater resources and about 21% of our farmland each year to produce food that will ultimately be wasted.
In addition to food rescue and distribution, we at Epic-Cure foster self-reliance for veterans and Title-1 school children through cooking classes. We engage senior citizens to teach children to safely prepare meals, providing them with practical life skills and the self-confidence that comes from real achievement, while simultaneously connecting generations through a shared purpose and improving the wellbeing of both the children and their community mentors.
Because we are a 100% volunteer organization, Epic-Cure’s costs are low, and its production is efficient.
• Epic-Cure has been able to return $80 in value to the communities we serve for every $1 we spend.
