White Hall Arts Academy Foundation provides free and subsidized conservatory level transformative arts education programs to local communities of South LA, Inglewood, Watts, and Compton. Now with virtual technologies becoming commonplace, White Hall Arts Academy Foundation is working to bring music to underserved communities throughout the United States.
On September 12, 2011, White Hall Arts Academy - a contemporary performing arts academy located in South Los Angeles was founded by music industry veteran Tanisha Hall. White Hall Arts Academy has reached thousands of students across South Los Angeles and worldwide through individual music lessons, group classes and community partnerships with schools and organizations.
Some of White Hall Arts Academy students have been featured on The Voice, American Idol, and America’s Got Talent, as well as Broadway tours and many other movies, television series and commercials. Success for WHAA students has not been limited to stage and screen, clients like Grammy Award winning songwriter Ant Clemons. White Hall Arts Academy students have been accepted into highly acclaimed educational institutions like Brown, USC, UCLA, UC Berkley, UCSD, Spellman, Moorehouse, and our founder’s alma mater Berklee College of Music. Many receiving full scholarships. Currently, WHAA reaches nearly 500 children annually through in-house programs and community partnerships.
In 2022 and 2024, White Hall Arts Academy was awarded a coveted “Infusion Award” from the Lewis Prize for Music. In February 2022 Tanisha was a guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show as a “Rad Human” for her extensive work in South Los Angeles. Ms. Hall has also received notable press coverage on KTLA Morning News, Good Day on Fox 11, Spectrum 1 News, the Tammi Mac Show on Fox Soul as well as being a featured panelist for Universal Music Group and Berklee College of Music. She has also secured contracts to provide music education services at schools and after school programs throughout Los Angeles and neighboring cities of Watts and Compton. In March 2024, Tanisha was honored by the Los Angeles Clippers as a Community Hero.
HeARTbeats and Project MuszEd
HeARTbeats and Project MuszEd are semester based Saturday intensive music education program targeted to underserved youth for $35 per month. Instrumental focus in piano, violin, drums, guitar, singing and stage performance. Additionally, classes in photography, graphic design and music production are available for older students.
Jamm U
Jamm-U is an onsite program currently offered at the Al Wooten Youth Center and Crete Academy. Jamm-U was designed to inspire and involve youth with little or no experience and minimal access to onsite instruments. This program provides instrumental, vocal and music production instruction at various educational and educational support centers throughout South Los Angeles and neighboring cities. Past locations for Jamm-U have included Lifeline Charter School in Compton, CA and Angeles Mesa Elementary School.
Arts of Music Production
The Arts of Music Production is a special outreach program for youth ages 13 and older. A special element of this program is our Songwriters Series classes which feature special music industry guest speakers. Guest speakers have been Grammy winners Ant Clemons, Ayanna Ray, Andre Merritt and Carlos Battey, music executives from Atlantic Records, Universal and Sony Music Publishing Groups and the Recording Academy. In addition to music production and songwriting techniques, students are taught theory and chord structure.
The H.O.P.E. Choir (Healing Others by Performing Everywhere) is an intergenerational vocal performance group started in 2022. Since it’s inception, the HOPE Choir has performed for United Airlines, LA Metro, the Special Needs Network, CASA-LA, and the 2022 Taste of Soul Festival. The HOPE Choir’s mission is to touch lives through positive, impactful music.
