Project Cub

de AMERICAN AIRPOWER HERITAGE MUSEUM INC

Each year, the Henry B. Tippie National Aviation Education Center’s (NAEC) Project Cub internship program selects a group of exceptional high school seniors who are eager to immerse themselves in the world of aerospace engineering. The centerpiece of this program is the restoration of a remarkable 1946 J3C-7 Piper Cub, a vintage aircraft that holds great historical significance in the aviation world. Under the guidance and supervision of qualified staff and dedicated volunteers, these students gain hands-on experience as they learn to utilize a wide range of tools and techniques to breathe new life into this WWII-era aircraft.

By offering a comprehensive experience that combines practical aircraft restoration work with the development of essential 21st-century skills, Project Cub provides students with a unique opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. They emerge from the program equipped not only with technical expertise but also with the confidence, adaptability, and teamwork skills necessary to excel in their future endeavors.
