Operation Life Support is a community outreach organization that works directly with first responders (Police, Fire, EMS) providing coaching, crisis training, peer support and individual crisis intervention. We are comprised of a network of providers that have “walked in the boots” of those they serve. These are former law enforcement officers, firefighters and other first responders and military personnel who have lived through the difficult times associated with these professions. Therefore, we understand what it takes to cope with the daily challenges of duty and service.
Our network of providers offer their services to the responders and families in need. We meet them right where they are in any given situation to provide the support and assistance that is necessary in a timely and professional manner.
Our work is accomplished by providing personal coaching, pre-incident training and post-incident intervention programs. Through education and peer support we are able to improve the first responders ability to overcome the emotional and life threatening situations that they face each day.
During this process, we provide skills that will help first responders in their day-to-day duties. Skills that prepare the first responder to be more compassionate and understanding as they protect their community. In addition, these skills help the first responders to effectively communicate with their peers and their family leading to reduced stress in their career and their relationships. In addition, they are more capable of evaluating the mental and emotional state of the people they interact with each day, thereby creating a safer and more compassionate encounter for everyone involved.
Those involved in this effort are not only passionate about this work, but they are also “mission-minded” individuals who are committed to those whom they serve. One of our network members states: “Each of us have been in the trenches and had to deal with the emotional fall-out that occurs after an event. Whether it is a police shooting, a firefighter seeing a child die, or a combat soldier watching his buddy's life slip away, we have all gone through crisis events that disturb the very foundations of our being. Because we have endured and overcome these difficult times, we are uniquely qualified to assist those in need.”
The varied backgrounds of our personnel and the training and endorsements they have received place them in a category of providers that is extremely effective in the most difficult environments. This effective effort is needed more today than ever before as we watch our first responders face more volatile situations.
Please help us provide assistance to these selfless servants, their families and those they serve.
