Purpose & Impact
The MOCIT Futures Equity Lab is a bold, systems-changing initiative that integrates AI (artificial intelligence) and VR/AR (virtual reality/augmented reality) and cooperative governance to transform how underserved communities—particularly young mothers and their children—engage with health equity, digital literacy, and economic opportunity.
The convergence of AI, immersive tech, and decentralized governance presents a rare opportunity to disrupt entrenched inequities. Yet, these tools are often inaccessible to those most impacted by systemic barriers. As these emerging technologies reshape society, these communities risk being left behind. MOCIT Futures Equity Lab flips the script: it equips young mothers of color not just as users, but as creators, co-owners, and leaders of digital futures.
The project focuses on:
1. Health equity is inseparable from digital access and economic justice.
2. Community-led tech design fosters trust, relevance, and sustainability.
3. Immersive technologies (AI, VR/AR) accelerate learning and engagement.
4. Cooperative governance (DAO) builds long-term ownership and resilience.
Annual Goal:
~ Train 100+ mothers
~ Engage 200 children in early STEM learning
~ Impact 450+ families and households
