SkinAware is building an AI-powered smartphone app that detects melanoma risk from a simple photo. Users take a picture of a mole, and our model instantly classifies melanoma versus benign lesions with accuracy that already exceeds every publicly available competitor in the U.S. The app provides a clear risk score and guidance on whether the lesion likely needs dermatologic evaluation, making early detection as simple and accessible as taking a photo. Our underlying ensemble model was trained on more than 217,000 clinical images and is being prepared for multi-site clinical validation and eventual FDA submission. Over time, we will expand the platform to include enterprise tools for clinics and health systems, enabling AI-driven triage, reporting, and workflow integration. SkinAware addresses the critical issue that most skin cancers are detected too late because dermatology access is limited and patients often delay evaluation. By turning any smartphone into an early-detection tool, we aim to increase early melanoma detection—especially for underserved populations such as veterans, rural communities, and people of color.
