SYRACUSE, New YorkHonor Flight Network was formed “to transport veterans at no cost to them to DC, to visit memorials dedicated to honor their sacrifices.” Our current focus – WW II, Korean War and Vietnam War veterans, but we accept applications from Veterans of any period; those from any conflict who have a terminal illness also have priority. Honor Flight Syracuse operates from Hancock International Airport and is the Honor Flight Network hub serving military veterans and their families across ten counties in Central and Northern New York and the Mohawk Valley.
The World War II Memorial in Washington, DC, did not open to the public until late April, 2004. Honor Flight Network was formed to take elderly World War II Veterans to Washington to visit the memorial dedicated to their service and sacrifice. By the end of 2019, 130 Honor Flight Hubs across 42 states have flown over 250,000 Veterans to Washington.
