SUSSEX COUNTY ARTS & HERITAGE COUNCIL

Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Newton, New Jersey, dedicated to fostering and promoting arts, history, and cultural programming throughout Sussex County.

Designated by the State of New Jersey and the Sussex County Board of Commissioners as the county’s official arts and heritage organization, the Council serves as the local partner for the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and the New Jersey Historical Commission. In this role, we both present our own programs and support arts and history organizations across the county.

Our work connects people of all ages through creative and cultural experiences close to home. Through rotating exhibitions, hands-on workshops, cultural presentations, and public programs offered throughout our county, we help ensure that arts and cultural opportunities remain available to residents in urban, suburban, and rural communities alike.

Program affordability is a priority. Offerings are priced at accessible rates, with some provided at no cost and reduced-cost options for seniors, veterans, and individuals and families with financial need always available. We also engage with community organizations and attend local events to extend our reach and strengthen connections across the county.

For more than five decades, Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council has served the community by supporting local artists and historians, preserving cultural heritage, and strengthening community connections through creativity, culture, and shared experience.
