Baltimore 100 Years-1920-2020 A Documentary Film
de THE INDEPENDENT FEATURE PROJECT INCBaltimore 100 Years is the story of urban transformation in America over the last century, with Baltimore cast in the leading role. It is an ethnographic study of modern history and biography of a city that is often misunderstood. Our mission is to inspire a brighter future for Baltimore and similar cities, by providing a better understanding of the past.
Like most good film characters, Baltimore is complex. It is not quite northern…not quite southern. A place with arcane colloquialisms, customs and quirks that mystify outsiders. The city is a perpetual underdog, over shadowed by its eminent neighbors, home to a population with a collective inferiority complex and a dubious national reputation. Most importantly, Baltimore is rich with stories, characters and a history that few American cities can claim.
Baltimore 100 Years explores the impact of social, cultural, technological and political events on every day life in Baltimore between 1920-2022. We believe this period of history is most relevant to modern audience. It highlights both the challenges and triumphs Baltimore has experienced in this time, with particular insight into race relations and the little known history of Baltimore’s African American communities. Well researched, compelling stories and imagery will be delivered in a platform for preserving collective memories, promoting dialogue, and fostering a deeper understanding of the city's complex narrative.
