Food Access Support for Seniors and Veterans in Connecticut
de END HUNGER CONNECTICUT INCEnd Hunger Connecticut! works to ensure that seniors and veterans across the state can access the food resources they need to live with dignity and stability. Older adults and veterans often face unique barriers to food access, including fixed incomes, mobility challenges, and limited awareness of available benefits. Many are eligible for programs like SNAP but remain unenrolled due to complex application processes or lack of targeted outreach.
Through direct assistance, outreach, and education, End Hunger Connecticut! helps seniors and veterans navigate available resources and connect to critical food supports. The organization’s SNAP Call Center assists thousands of residents each year, providing one-on-one support to complete applications and access benefits that can significantly improve food security and overall well-being.
Support for this project helps expand outreach to older adults and veterans, reduce barriers to enrollment, and ensure that more individuals can consistently access healthy, affordable food. This work strengthens independence, improves health outcomes, and supports some of Connecticut’s most vulnerable residents.
