Living Hope Equine Therapy was started in 2022 by Tammi Wilson, a PATH (Professional Assiciation of Therapeutic Horsemanship) certified instructor. After becoming certified in 2017 she gained valuable experience in three therapeutic riding centers as an instructor, Veterans Program Director, and eventually Programs and Operations Director of a large riding center. Seeing the impact, the relationship with horses had on riders and their families was lifechanging. Living Hope was created to provide a unique experience to families and veterans that would otherwise never have the opportunity to fully enjoy an all-encompassing horsemanship experience. Our program differentiates itself by providing a more in-depth experience for participants and offers opportunities to compete in horse shows on a local and national level. We provide an education that includes horse care and management, groundwork, riding and preparation for competition. We strive to attend a minimum of 6 shows each year. We want to create an environment at feels more like owning your own horse and being a part of a barn family.
An average therapy session is an hour, and our clients learn to groom, tack, and prep their horse prior to riding including lunging and round penning. Ther also care for their horse once their ride is completed. This all-encompassing experience not only teaches life skills, responsibility, and empathy but also allows time for bonding with the horses to provide opportunities for emotional healing. Additionally, we care for our veterans by providing opportunities for fellowship with weekly lunches. Every day we witness the positive impact that equine assisted therapy provides. These benefits include building physical strength, confidence, social skills, problem solving, patience, and a constructive outlet for anxiety, anger and PTSD. Riders that participate in the horse show learn about being on a team, working towards goals, and overcoming fears and adversities.
In our brief time since opening, we have doubled our clientele and currently have a wait list of interested participants. we have also competed in three horse shows with five of our riders attaining the title of World Champion. We are privileged to provide our services at an operating show barn, which is owned and operated by two national judges carded with multiple breed associations. All of our instructors are PATH certified and our board of directors consists of a talented group with expertise in corporate business, the military, as well as the horse industry.
