Yarn
Yarn, any color, standard yarn, Red Heart, Hobby Yarn, and yarn, we make baby blankets for area hospitals. We teach Vets to use their hands again, to join the community again, to get involved in this small way of crocheting baby blankets for local hospitals, we teach the Vets to Crochet, help them with patterns and aid them in their communication and community skills at no cost. As a 100% Vet myself, I thought my life was over at 19, but a great nurse taught me to crochet and my life turned around. Now, 50 years later, it’s my turn to bring the community together.
This program is critical to so many people, the Veterans, they babies and their families.
Hat Program and Baby blanket program are critical programs in the Memphis Area. The mortality rate in Memphis is higher than anywhere else in the country. Babies need the extra warmth from our blankets, and people in need, require crochet hats to keep warm in the winter.
100% of the funds raised from this event goes to the partnering charity (or charities) of that year, the gallery keeps none of the money raised, we are 100% volunteers’ no one is paid.
What you will need to bring:
1. Crochet hook
2. Yarn, if you have it, we try to acquire free yarn but it is not always available.
3. We meet once every Friday at 2:00 unless there is rain, we call off if there is rain.
4. Please tell your friends, family and Churches we need yarn
5. New members always welcome
