The Veterans Memorial Park is officially open! Thank you to all who attended the grand opening ceremony. Thanks also go to the planning committee, and to our sponsors: Clean Water Services, Van Dyke Grain Elevators, Stantec, PGE, Strom Manufacturing, the Fage family, the Hirst family, and the Portland Bicycling Club.
Opened on November 11, 2020 but planned for years, the newest park in the North Plains park system celebrates our nation’s heroes, as well as offers a place to relax and reflect. This 11,000 square foot park features a 100-foot flagpole with a 50x30 foot flag as the centerpiece, commemorative plaques honoring our Veterans and POW’s for their service and sacrifice, benches, the town's first EV charging stations, an American Legion flag disposal box, bike rack and repair station, and more. The park is located on at the corner of Highland Court and 313th Ave, behind the McDonald's.
Memorial bricks that will be part of the park design are for sale, to honor those who have served, are serving, as a living or deceased veteran. There is no deadline to purchase a brick- the park design has more than 1,500 bricks, so we will accept dedications for years. *Note - bricks need to be dry to engrave. Bricks submitted first will be engraved first. Purchasers that provide an email address will be notified when their brick will be engraved.
