COMPUTERS FOR THE BLIND

We receive computers and accessibility software as donations from many sources. Our volunteers clean and refurbish the computers, then set them up with the software to make it possible for visually impaired persons to interact with them. It takes a team to make it all happen! It is our hope that all with a visual impairment may experience the technology in a positive and productive manner.

Our organization operates on community support in 3 different areas:
1. We rely on donations of computers from corporations. The software we install on computers that make them accessible to the blind requires a minimum laptop and desktop spec. Please contact us at info@computersfortheblind.org to see if computers from your company can be used for refurbishing.
2. We rely on financial donations to provide grants to clients who are purchasing our computers. An average price for a laptop is $200 and a desktop is $150. We use donations to reduce that price by $60 for anyone who is a student, veteran, or on SSI/SSDI/Social Security.
3. We rely on experienced volunteers to help us in the refurbishing process. Our volunteers are the backbone in helping us provide computers to persons who are blind throughout all of the United States.
