A place to call home is one of the most basic—and essential—human needs. Evictions in our region have been at a high, and our families are living in motels, staying with friends, sleeping in their cars—or worse, on the streets.
United Way’s housing programs offer a diverse set of interventions primarily focused on preventing evictions and homelessness by keeping families in their homes, quickly relocating families who may be facing eviction and keeping kids in their home schools.
Our strategy is to use rental assistance funds to address the immediate crisis and to use our breadth of other United Way services as well as case management to help families plan for long-term self-sufficiency.
Our programs help to fill gaps in mainstream government housing systems, which are often reserved for specific uses, and to prevent families from falling into homelessness.
Your support of these programs enables United Way to assist people with barriers to self-sufficiency and to provide a range of supportive services at multiple points throughout their journey to housing stability.
