We understand there is a wide range of complex obstacles facing our returning veterans today. It will take many initiatives (often overlapping) to tackle each piece and to do it well. The COMMIT Foundation started from a group of friends, veterans, and patriots wanting to help their battle buddies through their military-to-civilian transitions. Recognizing a great need, we decided to formalize our efforts and vowed to respond to a piece of this puzzle: veteran career transition. We invest significant time and attention in individual veterans and their families to assist with their professional realignment after they serve our country in uniform.
The COMMIT Foundation creates serendipity for veterans by fostering
mentorship, extending and growing professional networks, promoting familiar
camaraderie, and setting the stage for inspiring moments. Through three lines of operation, we create solutions around individuals. We focus on Small Touch and High Impact efforts.
The COMMIT Foundation works with military veterans from all services, branches, and ranks. Most of the veterans who come to us have served in the recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan but not all. *We strive to be an organization focused on Small Touch High Impact efforts, meaning we focus on small numbers of veterans at a time and give each focused and sustained attention.
We believe veterans already have the unique skills required to succeed in the professional civilian world but may need a little help defining their path. The COMMIT Foundation focuses on mitigating three gaps for transitioning veterans: the Information Gap, the Confidence Gap, and the Imagination Gap.
Our Transition Mentorship Workshops are where magic happens. Through mentorship and harnessing the power of networks, we enable veterans to put their best foot forward. The workshops focus on life’s decision points, options, paths and goals. They are powerful sessions that reinforce integrity, family, and passion.
In COMMIT's one-on-one transition program, we work with veterans individually to ensure the first steps they take out of the military are the right ones. We rely upon our networks and resources to open up doors and opportunities that otherwise might not be readily available to the veterans. Assistance comes in various forms and The COMMIT Foundation works to fill the gaps that other organizations are not providing or are not providing in a timely manner.
Corporate Education is necessary in today's environment where many organizations express interest in hiring veterans. Transition and veteran hiring is about individuals, not metrics. We work with companies to ensure they understand veteran skill-sets and experiences. Corporations have a tremendous opportunity and an enormous amount of value in front of them when a veteran comes on board. We work to ensure the relationships are the right ones, the placements are appropriate, and the proper mentoring and conditions are set for long-term success.
