In keeping with our mission and primary goals, we continue to significantly impact this nation with the message of perpetually recognizing our military fallen heroes and their families. Our objectives can be summarized in four words, establish, educate, present and comfort. In this summary are accomplishments in a few of these areas although much of the work we do crosses all four. Only a small portion of our extensive activity is mentioned here.
Establish: Currently, Twenty one states have adopted the Honor and Remember Flag as their state symbol of remembrance: VA, NC, MD, DE, PA, NJ, SC, AZ, KS, LA, MO, OR, UT, OK, IN, WI, TX, TN, SD, WV, MN. Many other states are working on adoption legislation and we should see substantial progress in 2015. We are slowly, deliberately and successfully changing the mindset of this nation. Additionally, every U.S. state has a point of contact who continues to contribute to the organization with increased awareness and outreach efforts.
Educate: With sixteen official state chapters we are making significantly more impact in many areas. These chapters are extensions of our organization, acting as boots on the ground and staffed 100% by volunteers. VA, NC, AK, OH, MN, TX, NH, FL, KY, CT, MA, NE, IN, KS and AZ. We are communicating with several other states and awaiting formal paperwork with a goal of doubling our efforts in 2014. Recently we partnered with national recording artist BeBe Winans to create a national tribute video that carried our message of remembrance. This year we also established Honor and Remember month of May, bring further national recognition of sacrifice.
Present: Continuing our benevolent goal of presenting personalized flags to every Gold Star Family who has lost a loved one in military service, hundreds of families have been honored in many states. More than 1500 personalized flags have been presented, with over 400 in the last year.
Comfort: Strategic partnerships with professional sports, national organizations and corporations, as well as HR planned community building events, have enabled us to personally touch the lives of thousands of individual Gold Star family members in a variety of states. Venues to honor families also brings opportunities to educate our citizens as to the flag’s meaning and purpose. Hundreds of thousands have been reached by our message. We also have established the Honor and Remember Run for the Fallen as an outreach to individually recognize each states military fallen.
