My name is Jeremy Camargo and I proudly own St. Petersburg Eye Care Specialists
(SPECS Family Eye Care) here in Pinellas County with my wife, Dr. Tara Camargo.
We have been incredibly fortunate to run one of the few remaining family-owned
optometry practices in the state of Florida.
In 2015, we purchased what was then the oldest optometry practice in Pinellas
County—originally founded by Dr. Benjamin, and later nurtured by Dr. Marantz. They
built a true family-focused legacy, and we’ve continued that tradition ever since. Over
the past decade our community has embraced us wholeheartedly and we are truly
grateful.
Now we feel it's our turn to give back.
We have founded the Moxy Vision Program, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, with a mission to
provide free eye care to underserved students and veterans in Pinellas County.
Our goal is to purchase a custom 20-foot mobile unit in the next few months—fully
equipped as a professional-grade eye exam room—to bring quality vision care directly
into the communities that need it most.
We named our program "Moxy" because we believe deeply in what the word
represents: courage, resilience, and determination. Life can be full of challenges, but
with support and vision—literally and figuratively—we can empower people to overcome
obstacles and pursue their goals.
The cost of the mobile unit is $105,000, and I’m proud to share that SPECS has
already purchased and donated over $115,000 worth of medical equipment to
support this initiative.
We are now reaching out to individuals, organizations, and companies who share our
passion for community wellness, in hopes that you will help us bring this dream to life.
We hope you'll consider partnering with us to make a lasting difference in the lives of
our local children and veterans. Together, we can ensure they get the vision care they
need to thrive.
