BLUE STAR SERVICE DOGS INC

Blue Star Service Dogs provides highly trained service dogs at no cost to military veterans and first responders living with PTSD, TBI, military sexual trauma (MST), and other visible and invisible wounds. Dogs are rescued from shelters and trained to perform specific, disability-mitigating tasks tailored to each individual’s needs. Foundational training takes place in a Michigan-based prison dog training program, where dogs live with incarcerated handlers for approximately 4–6 months receiving daily obedience and early task work. Each dog is then individually paired with a veteran or first responder, and the team trains weekly for up to one year, focusing on advanced task work, public access skills, and long-term reliability. Ongoing support continues through graduation to ensure lasting independence and success. Formerly known as Stiggy’s Dogs, Blue Star Service Dogs is committed to rescuing one to heal another.
