The Comfort Crew for Military Kids provides support to military kids and their families through the following four programs:
1. The Bringing Families Back Together is a two part program that provides strategies that support resilience during all phases of the deployment cycle.
Part one begins with the delivery of the With You All the Way! Dealing with Deployment Kit. This comprehensive set of resources guides families as they prepare for a deployment, offers strategies for staying connected while separated, and helps families plan for their homecoming.
Part two is delivery of the follow up resource, Together Again! Helping Military Families Reconnect. This set of resources focus on the unique challenges families experience during the reintegration phase of the deployment cycle.
2. The Fallen Heroes program ensures that military children who lose a loved one to war, suicide or death receive the support necessary to not only cope with their loss but thrive in the after math of war. The resources aim to help military children feel connected and supported so they know they are not alone during this difficult time.
3. The Wounded Warriors Program supports families and children who are experiencing a loved one’s return from deployment with visible and/or invisible injuries. Materials for these children are packaged in our Taking Care of You! Kit and include a caregiver guide for parents. With this kit, families are encouraged to support one another when challenged with the obstacles of reintegration.
4. The Never Alone Network is designed to let military kids know - We Are With You All the Way! We meet with military kids and create a safe environment where they can be free to express how they are feeling in front of their peers.
Since 2010, the With You All the Way! Tour, sponsored by the USO, has visited over 150,000 military kids, sharing a vital and upbeat message emphasizing the importance of caring for one another and developing valuable strategies for dealing with the unique challenges of military life. Military kids at each tour stop receive a kit containing CCMK Co-founder Trevor Romain's award-winning animated series, along with a journal and companion materials.
Military families request these resources through the CCMK Military Family Webportal- http://www.comfortcrew.org/militaryheroes.html and the Comfort Kits are shipped directly to the families at no cost to them.
