Phuppo

An ambulance rushes Samiya, dying of late-stage cancer, to an overburdened government hospital in Pakistan, accompanied by her adopted daughter Sabeen and niece Amna. As she is admitted into the ICU, relatives begin to gather. While Samiya is still alive, conversations turn from care to control. Decisions about her burial quickly escalate into conflict.

As tensions rise, grief becomes entangled with hierarchy, ego, and unspoken resentments. When Sabeen challenges where her mother’s body should be taken after death, a struggle over authority erupts into chaos. In the corridor outside the ICU, a family fractures in real time just as Samiya’s heart monitor flatlines.
