MVCS was founded as a mental health center in 1961 by a group of Islanders with a deep concern for the mental health and stability of Island families. Over the 55 years that have followed, programs have been added collaboratively as unmet needs have emerged on the Island of Martha’s Vineyard. We meet our mission to enhance the lives of those we serve by meeting the comprehensive needs of individuals, families, and the community through a partnership of programs that provides accessible education and health and human services of the highest quality. Today, our programs include:
• CONNECT to end violence: CONNECT is a Dept. of Public Health Rape Crisis Center that provides services for victims/survivors of domestic and sexual violence,
• Disability Services: Family Support Center provides supports to families that include family members who have developmental disabilities. Island Employment Services provides an array of employment supports to MA Rehab Commission clients including services from resume writing to on-the-job supports,
• Early Childhood Program: Pre-school childcare, home-based Head Start program, and the Family Center,
• Island Counseling Center: Behavioral health services to children and adults, 24 hour crisis intervention services, Substance Abuse services including an intensive outpatient program of support for those recovering from addiction, a Daybreak Clubhouse Program, senior services, and a Veterans Outreach Program,
• Island Wide Youth Collaborative: The Island Wide Youth Collaborative is a MA Family Resource Center and a referral agency that provides case management for families and young people (up to age 26), and
• The Thrift Shop: Provides affordable recycled clothing and household items while raising funds in support of our programs.
