The Langley Division of the US Navy's Sea Cadets program is sponsored by the Malibu Council of the U.S. Navy League. It is based in Woodland Hills, California.
The mission of the Sea Cadets is tobuild leaders of character. Our military culture stresses concepts of duty, service and self-sacrifice which are the foundation of good leadership. At young ages, our cadets are given leadership opportunities by staffing summer training events, planning unit drill sessions, and teaching others.
While our cadets gain an appreciation for the sea services and military life, there is no requirement to join the military. Many former cadets enlist in the U.S. Navy or other military branches, and dozens enroll in the service academies or ROTC units of civilian universities. Cadets who complete our “recruit training” are well prepared for the rigors of boot camp or officer indoctrination.
