The Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo County's mission is to be committed to eliminating the causes of poverty by empowering low-income individuals and families to achieve self-sufficiency through a wide array of community-based collaborations and programs. CAPSLO was established in 1965 as a private, nonprofit, public benefit agency that is part of a national network of community action agencies dedicated to serving the community with programs that empower and strengthen individuals, families, and the community and by helping people increase their self-sufficiency, rise out of poverty, and meet their basic needs.

Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo County, Inc., (CAPSLO) achieves outcomes by engaging multiple sectors, serving nearly 35,000 individuals annually in 11 California counties through seven divisions: Adult Day Center; Child Youth and Family Services (including Head Start); Energy Services; Family and Community Support Services; Health and Prevention Services; Homeless Services; and Supportive Services for Veterans Families. These divisions operate 32 programs that serve the entire age spectrum of individuals, and are supported by Central Administration, Finance, Human Resources, IT, Facilities, and Planning departments.
