A Space Inside, led by Sierra Jones (@theblackspiritualist) and Symonne Larison (@monielovecreations), is a dynamic arts group dedicated to empowering BIPOC artists and fostering a vibrant arts community. Our multidisciplinary artist collective, consisting of over 30 talented BIPOC individuals, features painters, sculptors, photographers, pottery makers, glass blowers, musicians, poets, and spoken word artists, and more. Our mission is to empower the greater community to explore the arts, feel safe to be vulnerable, and find healing through their own artistic expression. We curate and host art shows that uplift BIPOC artists, organize monthly open mics for all art forms as well as separate monthly open mics for spoken word and poetry, and conduct creative writing workshops to hone the skills of emerging poets. Our events, which also include family paint nights and intimate concerts, aim to build a supportive community that aligns with Shunpike's vision of equitable access and sustainable artistic production.
