1,000, SUS provides housing, day, wellness and employment

individuals and their families annually. Services are tailored
to meet the needs, goals and preferences of the people
and communities served. Our programs and services
are supported by a diverse group of local, state and federal
government entities as well as foundation, corporate
and individual donors. What makes SUS different is our commitment to and
expertise in providing tailored services to persons with
complex needs, while meeting their personal goals and
preferences. Many of the individuals we serve have not
found other service providers able to do so.
In 2012, SUS was awarded three-year accreditation from
CARF International (the Commission on Accreditation
of Rehabilitation Facilities) for our work in our residential,
employment, Clubhouse and day habilitation programs.
This award demonstrates SUS’ dedication to improving
the quality of life for the people we serve. SUS provides housing, employment, wellness and other support services to approximately 7,500 individuals and their
families in all five boroughs of New York City and in Long
Island every year, with the bulk of our programming in
Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx. SUS’ presence in New York City has grown to be an integral part of the communities that host our programs and services.
Our residences, scattered site apartments, day hab
programs and shelters are all good neighbors to over 35
communities across the five boroughs. With a staff of over 1,000, we continue to expand the breadth and depth of our work. We recently launched a new
program in Long Island and will open several new programs
in Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx in 2014 and beyond.
