Planned PEThood’s Vets for Vets program will provide free veterinary care to 300 veterans and their beloved pets across Metro Atlanta. With nearly 300,000 veterans living in this region and rising veterinary costs, too many of our heroes are forced to choose between their own needs and their pets’ care. This program removes that burden by offering essential services such as vaccines, microchips, and spay/neuter vouchers at no cost. We will partner with local VA centers and organizations like Pets for Vets to reach veterans where they already are. Our pilot program, launching in November in honor of Veterans Day, will include three pop-up clinics at different VA locations to maximize accessibility. Veterans can easily pre-register online to ensure smooth operations and minimal wait times. Each event will serve up to 100 pets, keeping staffing needs low and impact high. With a modest investment of $5,000 per event, we can protect the health of both pets and the veterans who rely on them for comfort and companionship. Long-term, we aim to sustain these clinics year-round, providing affordable veterinary care every 1-2 months. Together, we can honor those who served by caring for the animals who serve them every day.
