SAN DIEGO VETERAN HONOR COLOR GUARD
ESCONDIDO, CaliforniaSan Diego Veteran Honor Color Guard is a volunteer honor/color guard whose mission is to honor America's veterans and their families. One of the ways we accomplish this is by "Rekindling the American Military Spirit”. The organization was initially created in late 2020 to help support the U.S. military due to the many budgetary cuts. We discovered that veterans were no longer "guaranteed” the many benefits of sacrificing their lives to maintain our freedoms. An example of this would be the possibility of a veteran not receiving military honors at a national cemetery when they are buried. As local veterans, we found this to be unacceptable and looked for ways we could help out. With Covid 19 in full swing, finding veterans who could help has been difficult, but here we are in 2022 and have applied for and been approved as a public charity 501(c)3 EIN: 88-2686555. All services rendered are NO CHARGE to veterans or their families. We are a group of veteran and non-veteran volunteers focused on the senior veteran community. We have participated in events with The Elizabeth Hospice of North County (we are the Elizabeth Hospice Color Guard). NOLAH, The KPBS GI Film Festival, Recovery Happens, senior centers throughout San Diego and Riverside Counties, and The San Diego Bagpiper's Association. We are always looking for additional volunteers.
San Diego Veteran Honor Color Guard volunteers primarily in San Diego and Riverside counties. As an Honor Guard we participate in private and public pinning ceremonies, funeral honors, and celebration of life ceremonies. As a Color Guard we support the Honor Guard events previously described, but also support other Veteran Related non-profit organizations. Examples are The Veteran to Veteran program and Recovery Happens.
