STARS AND STRIPES DOG RESCUE

Stars and Stripes Dog Rescue’s mission is to save at-risk dogs from euthanasia and transform them into life-changing support companions for military veterans living with the invisible wounds of war. We rescue dogs from overcrowded shelters, provide rehabilitation, and prepare them for service through our unique prison dog training program. Inside the prison, incarcerated trainers work under professional guidance to give rescue dogs the structure, socialization, and skills they need to succeed. This program creates a powerful circle of second chances: dogs gain a new future, incarcerated individuals develop purpose and job-ready skills, and the work they do directly contributes to the healing of veterans who have sacrificed so much for our country.

When each dog completes training, we carefully match them with a veteran in need and support the team with hands-on training, wellness tools, and ongoing coaching. Many of the veterans we serve are living with PTSD, anxiety, depression, or the challenges of transitioning back to civilian life. Their trained “Battle Buddy” dogs help reduce isolation, interrupt panic, provide grounding, and restore confidence, trust, and connection.
