Massachusetts Clean Energy Center program

by WE REACH INC

Project Description:
WeReach is proud to partner with the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) to deliver a dynamic workforce development initiative focused on training and connecting individuals from underrepresented communities with high-demand careers in the clean energy sector.

This program is designed to address two critical challenges: the growing need for skilled workers in clean energy industries, and the persistent underrepresentation of people of color, immigrants, women, and low-income individuals in these career fields. By bridging this gap, WeReach is contributing to both economic equity and climate resilience in Massachusetts.

What the Program Offers
WeReach provides a comprehensive training-to-employment model that includes:

Workforce readiness training to develop soft skills and job retention strategies

Hands-on technical training in clean energy careers such as:

Weatherization

Solar installation

Energy efficiency auditing and retrofitting

Occupational safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 10)

Job placement support, including employer matchmaking, interview preparation, and follow-up coaching

Wraparound support services, such as transportation assistance, bilingual instruction, and referrals for social services

Who We Serve
This program is open to residents of Massachusetts who are:

Unemployed or underemployed

Members of historically marginalized communities (especially Black, Latino, immigrant, and refugee populations)

Interested in building a long-term career in the clean energy or climate workforce

We prioritize participants from Gateway Cities, which are mid-sized urban centers in Massachusetts with high concentrations of low-income residents and limited employment pipelines.

Our Impact
Since launching this program, WeReach has:

Trained over 100 participants in clean energy career pathways

Maintained a 75% completion rate across all cohorts

Supported over 60 graduates in securing job offers or apprenticeships within three months of program completion

Partnered with local clean energy employers to ensure that training is directly aligned with industry needs

Contributed to a more inclusive and representative green economy

Why This Work Matters
Massachusetts is leading the nation in clean energy investment and climate adaptation. However, the benefits of this green economy are not reaching all residents equally. Communities of color and low-income families—who often live in poorly insulated homes and pay higher energy bills—are frequently left out of the workforce opportunities that clean energy creates.

By preparing individuals from these communities for success in the sector, WeReach is helping create both economic mobility and climate justice.

How You Can Help
Support from donors, volunteers, and corporate partners allows us to:

Offer more training sessions across the state

Provide stipends and materials to trainees

Expand partnerships with clean energy employers

Connect participants to long-term career ladders

We invite you to join us in building a future where the clean energy transition is not only environmentally sustainable, but also economically inclusive.
