Military Birth Resource Network and Postpartum Coalition will provide a supportive network for military families by developing opportunities for service members, veterans and their families to be a part of a network that provides pregnancy, labor and birth, postpartum, lactation, parenting support and legislative advocacy and education in those areas to military leaders and legislators.
Our Goals are to
Develop a family support network at every duty station that desires such regardless of the branch of service
Start and assist in maintaining chapters of the Military Birth Resource Network and Postpartum Coalition
Provide support and education for chapter leaders and members
Identify requirements at each base to start and maintain each chapter
Identify needs of military families at duty station
Develop positive relationships between Chapters Teams and healthcare providers
Establish professional liaison with command at each base
Provide mission statement, scope of practice and code of ethics for command and providers at base hospitals
Foster communication with cadre
Provide evidence-based information for families to assist them in decision making
Provide information and resources for pregnancy, labor and birth
Provide information and resources for postpartum and postpartum mood disorders
Provide information and resources for lactation
Provide information and resources for parenting
Increase public awareness regarding the benefits of doula care
Create a website and social media presence
Create and distribute educational information for all media formats
Participate in health fairs
Ensure that every military family who wants a doula will be able to have one
Provide birth doula trainings
Provide postpartum doula trainings
Train doulas for multicultural and non-traditional families
Provide scholarships for training and for doula service for families
Provide evidence-based information for health care professionals
Provide information for military treatment facilities, local hospitals and birth centers
Provide support for providers and allied health care workers
Provide evidence-based information for insurance companies
Create and distribute information for third party payers identifying the benefits and cost savings of birth and postpartum doula care
Develop relationships with third party payers to aid in providing reimbursement for doula services.
Advocate, educate, and write policy on birth and infant feeding initiatives that align with MBRNPC’s mission
Set up legislative meetings using MBRNPC Ambassadors and spokespersons
Write articles and features on birth and infant feeding experiences in the military community.
