BOW is a registered robotics team with FIRST ® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), one of the world’s leading organizations providing experiential workforce development in a STEM setting. Because of FIRST ’s success, many employers specifically seek out FIRST alumni when filling technical roles. We fulfill our mission by participating in FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) designed for high school students. Without a blueprint and with limited time and resources, student-led FRC teams self-design and construct a 120 lb semi-autonomous robot to compete against other FRC teams. This rigorous program produces future STEM professionals who possess the knowledge, skills, and capabilities needed to make meaningful contributions in a work setting.
We are a veteran team with eleven dedicated mentors who cultivate a diverse group of high school students to be tomorrow’s leaders, innovators and problem solvers. BOW has grown its student membership to nearly 200 current and past team members, many of whom have
matriculated at top engineering universities, community colleges and trade schools, or have
secured jobs directly out of high school.
