Dogs2DogTags is excited to announce a new grant program available to Veterans called Laika’s Fund.
Over the years we have been approached by Veterans who have their own special dog but due to financial circumstances, they are struggling to keep their pet. Laika’s fund is available to help Veterans with veterinary expenses, training, pet supplies, adoption expenses, etc, and our way of keeping more animals out of shelters while helping those who served for us.
Laika was a military dog who served three tours in Afghanistan and responsible for saving countless lives. Upon retirement from service, her former trainer and our founder, Torre Willadsen rescued her.
Laika spent her retirement training Dogs2DogTag dogs in training and became the symbol of overcoming PSTD. Everyone at Dogs2DogTags was heartbroken when Laika passed in the summer of 2021. Her impact on Dogs2DogTags will be missed with every new dog we rescue.
In her honor, we have established Laika’s Fund.
