REMOUNT FOUNDATION

Operating out of the United States Air Force Academy Equestrian Center since 2009, Remount Foundation provides free equine-assisted philosophy (EAP) and other horse-related healing and resilience-building programs for active duty military, veterans of all eras, first responders, and their families. Our participants are survivors of physical or psychological trauma, including combat trauma (traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder), military sexual trauma, assault, and domestic abuse. We use an innovative blend of equine therapeutic activities to help our participants adjust to physical and psychological injuries. We have helped over 16,000 of America's bravest and their families heal. Almost half of our participants are females, which has been a historically marginalized group when it comes to veteran care. Given Colorado’s record as one of the worst states in the nation for active duty and veteran suicides, Remount Foundation is a beacon of hope and healing in the fight against military suicides (active duty, veterans, military family members). We do not charge participants for our lifesaving and life-rebuilding services. We work in partnership with military installations and the Dept of Veterans Affairs to prevent suicide and help our nation's heroes and their families find the path home to hope, healing, and purpose. Our EAP program is nationally and internationally recognized for its effectiveness in helping trauma survivors heal.
