REBORN HEROES

Reborn Heroes is an official 501c3 non-profit organization founded in 2015 with the direct purpose of raising funds through charitable donations to cover 100% of the costs associated with Vestibular Rehabilitation Treatment (VRT) and other forms of treatment not covered through the Veterans Administration (VA). Reborn Heroes does not conduct the treatment or any form of treatment. Rather, our intent and promise is to take 100% of our donor’s financial contribution and use it to facilitate treatment for combat veterans from the Iraq and Afghanistan campaigns and who are waiting to begin VRT, as they need Reborn Heroes to cover their treatment costs.

In these cases and for whatever reasons, traditional PTSD psychotherapy treatment has not worked for these combat Veterans. VRT treatment for PTSD is relatively new and is not covered through traditional health insurance. VRT treatment is also not offered as a treatment or covered financially through the VA. However, VRT treatment is gaining significant ground in awareness as a treatment for PTSD as study results are showing very favorable.

Combat-related PTSD is a serious emotional illness that is classified as an anxiety disorder and usually develops as a result of an unsafe, life-threatening or a terribly frightening combat experience that someone has witnessed or personally experienced. Sufferers of PTSD will relive that traumatic experience or event and tend to avoid places, people or things that remind them of the incident. They also tend to be hypersensitive to normal life experiences. Depression caused by PTSD often debilitates the lives of these valuable members of our society. This is no way for our local combat Veterans to live. They have sacrificed so much for our way of life and freedoms. Currently, an estimated 22 veterans commit suicide daily due to this illness and other causes related to their combat deployments.

We feel that in providing combat Veterans with financial access to VRT treatment, they will take advantage of the treatment and this will benefit them personally, their families, and their communities as these individuals care deeply about those around them and our country and can contribute in a very positive manner to all aspects of our society. We need these heroes to be mentally and physically healthy.

We seek any financial contributions for these combat Veterans waiting for their treatment to be covered before they begin the actual treatment. Each Veteran that is waiting and desires that Reborn Heroes pays for their respective VRT treatment will receive a grant application. Once submitted, the grant application is reviewed by Reborn Heroes’ Board of Directors and a determination is made to approve the grant. The treatment is then scheduled with the nearest clinic to the veteran offering this specific VRT treatment. As treatment is provided, the clinic will send invoices to Reborn Heroes which will be paid from the donation account in full. On an ongoing process, the clinic will work with the veteran to determine the length and necessity of the VRT treatment as results will vary from Veteran to Veteran. At no time will Reborn Heroes pay the Veteran directly.
