BUFFALO BLESSINGS

N SALT LAKE, Utah

When the sweetgrass grew tall and plentiful, there were many buffalo living on the land and the First People were assured of having enough to eat, enough to live on, enough with which to create their clothing, tools and shelters. Grandfather and Grandmother Buffalo represent abundance, and so we have founded BUFFALO BLESSINGS. With great respect and in honor of their beautiful and proud heritage, we shall endeavor to provide assistance to our Native American brothers and sisters. Buffalo Blessings is a federally recognized 501(c)3 non-profit charity organization created by Rod and Anna Bennett. Our purpose is to bring food, basic supplies for daily living and other necessities to impoverished Native American people living on the Hopi and Navajo reservations.

Beginning in 2007, Buffalo Blessings has distributed approximately 55,000 pounds of groceries annually to over 750 Hopi and Navajo reservation families, as well as the Hopi Senior Citizen Nutrition Center, along with basic necessities such as hygiene products, tools and home repair items, household goods, blankets, poly barrels for food and water storage, and school supplies and toys for the children.

Beginning in the year 2020, Buffalo Blessings continued to provide food for the Hopi and Navajo people in the form of gift certificates to the local grocery store. This change was necessitated due to the unfortunate passing away of our co-founder, Rod Bennett, in 2020. We also continue to provide the people with other necessities of daily living, as always.
