PAWS FOR SERVICE

Our mission statement is: To improve human health and well-being by promoting mutually beneficial relationships with animals and using them as examples of God’s unconditional love.

We have over 150 teams that make over 300 visits a month to bring doggie joy to seniors in nursing homes, patients in hospitals and rehabilitation facilities, children in schools and veterans in VA facilities.

Studies show that dog therapy teams can influence both the health and happiness of patients and staff. Doggie therapy helps children focus better, improves literacy skills and increases self-confidence. Doggie therapy also provides comfort, lifts spirits and encourages communication. And, doggie therapy can also help reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation. We see the benefits each time we visit and connect with both young and old.

We appreciate all donations as they help us develop and deploy training materials for our classes. We also create bookmarks and certificates for children in schools and libraries who participate in our READ program. READ dog teams are specially trained to help struggling readers improve their skills through reading with our teams. In addition, we give out pictures of our dogs to patients that we visit to extend the joy of the visit.

We are an all-volunteer organization run by people who give their time to accomplish our mission. 100% of donations will go into our community outreach. Please help us to expand our programs and continue to bring doggie joy to patients, students, veterans and seniors. The smiles when we arrive with our dogs for a visit are priceless!
