SPRINGFIELD, Mo. —

On July 23, 2018, the mechanical failure of a vehicle caused the Carr Fire in California. To date, the fire has burned nearly 100,000 acres and is only 20% contained.

Thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes and the fire has destroyed hundreds of houses. Firefighters continue to work tirelessly in an effort to extinguish the flames, and two have already lost their lives. With high winds, low humidity, and high temperatures the fire is expected to continue in its erratic path.

Convoy of Hope is dispatching two tractor trailers today, full of food, water and emergency supplies. The nearly 80,000 pounds of relief items are bound for the Redding, California, area. Convoy of Hope will be setting up multiple distribution points in the coming days with the intent of helping survivors and first responders as they navigate these difficult days.

One truck with a team of drivers is set to arrive mid week with the other truck following closely behind. Once our team is in the area, additional decisions will be made regarding our response.
