Through programs in Cambodia, Bangladesh, and Vietnam, Samaritan’s Purse is working to prevent people from being trafficked and empower them to provide for their families.
We are training local volunteers to educate people about the danger of illegal border crossing and teach them to identify unsafe migration practices. Many people make the decision to migrate illegally because they are desperate to provide for their families. Through livelihood programs, Samaritan’s Purse is empowering families to provide for themselves so they do not have to make risky migration decisions. For many households, their monthly income has tripled as a result of this program.
We also form savings groups and local cooperatives that help people manage their household income and invest in their future. Participants learn principles of cash management, how to operate a small business, and wise investment strategies that enable them to take control of their financial situation and protect themselves from the vulnerability that leads to exploitation.
