COMMODORE JOHN BARRY ARTS & CULTURAL CENTER

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania

The Commodore John Barry Arts and Culture Center is a non-profit 501(C)(3) organization whose mission is to sponsor and support programs and activities in the Delaware Valley (includes Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware) that teach, celebrate and promote Irish art, culture and rich heritage. It is the Center’s goal that Irish Seniors, Irish Immigrants, Veterans, first-generation descendants of Irish Immigrants, and Irish-Americans will all benefit from its programs. To aid in accomplishing its mission, the Arts and Culture Center purchased the property, commonly known as the “Irish Center” at 6815 Emlen Street, Philadelphia, PA on October 25, 2017. The Center provides a common location where a variety of Irish organizations can meet and socialize at minimum or no cost. This includes celli groups, Irish societies, AOH divisions, dance groups, dance schools, GAA clubs, Senior Citizen groups, and others. It also houses an extensive library and a diverse collection of Irish memorabilia that is on display for all to appreciate. The Irish Center is focused on broadening the use of its facility and programs by multiple generations, including younger generations, families with young children, teenagers, young adults and seniors. The Irish Center would also like to broaden the facility usage by community representatives- outreach to the Mt Airy community has always been and continues to be a high priority for the Irish Center.
