Orange Baker Post 187 Teaching Garden: Growing Health, Healing, and Community

At Orange Baker Post 187, we established a Teaching Garden to promote health, healing, and connection for veterans, their families, and the surrounding community. With 8 raised garden beds, this garden serves as a therapeutic, holistic, and educational space where individuals can learn, grow, and thrive.

Our mission is to foster:

Environmental Stewardship: Teaching sustainable practices that care for the earth.
Food Sustainability & Security: Empowering individuals to grow their own food.
Advanced Nutritional Education: Promoting healthy habits and understanding nutrition.
Social Engagement: Creating opportunities for veterans, youth, and families to connect.
Community Building: Strengthening relationships through meaningful veteran interaction.
To fully support the garden’s success and prepare for the upcoming spring season, we are in urgent need of a shed to store tools, paint, and gardening supplies, as well as a pergola to provide shade for the area.
