Valor Home Summit- Homeless Veterans Shelter

by AXESS FAMILY SERVICES INC

Our mission is to support homeless veterans in our community in their efforts to achieve greater self-sufficiency, including the ability to secure and maintain permanent housing.

Harry Donovan, Jr. Valor Home in Summit County is a transitional housing program for homeless veterans. We provide 24/7 support with structured and engaging therapies throughout the week, which include art therapy, music therapy, life skills, and stress management. Each veteran is provided an individual room during their stay and lives at the Valor Home for an average of 6 to 12 months with an end goal of gaining permanent housing.

At Harry Donovan, Jr. Valor Home, we provide support services to residents both on-site and in the community. Each resident is assigned a support worker and has a daily routine that includes self-improvement activities, exercises in self-sufficiency, and personal time.

Valor Home is indebted to Harry Donovan for his generous support that combined two of his great passions—feeding people and helping veterans. At age 17, he enlisted in the Navy to protect the America that he loved. He earned a Purple Heart for his service and learned valuable skills he later took to his business as a CPA. Throughout his life, Harry gave to many with love and belief in helping his fellow man without any reluctance.
