HEALTH & WELLNESS Program

by UWVC Foundation

The Health and Wellness Program is for veterans dealing with a myriad of issues such as Post-Traumatic Stress, Traumatic Brain Injury, homelessness, substance addiction, and legal complications.

This initiative gives veterans a variety of ways to cope with their issues alternatively through participating in activities and engagements such as art workshops, camping, equine therapy, rucking/hiking and sailing. The holistic experiences for these veterans enhance their physical, mental and emotional health, complementing more intensive therapeutic treatments.
We have partnered with Samaritan Daytop Village, a four-step rehabilitation program dedicated for veterans and other successful groups in offering these services. To date, the program delivered well over 500 positive veteran interactions.
We continue to expand the breadth and depth of these programs, by leveraging our relationships with service providers and supporters such as Samaritan Daytop Village, SailAHead, Ani Art Academy, Serenity Stables from Combat to Calm, Sierra Club Outdoors and Operation Beachhead.
Currently, these outings take place once a week (4 x a month) with a small group of veterans
