The Abraham Lincoln Brigade Archives (ALBA) is an educational non-profit dedicated to promoting social activism and the defense of human rights. ALBA’s work is inspired by the brave American volunteers of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade who fought fascism in the Spanish Civil War (1936-39). ALBA works to preserve the legacy of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade as an inspiration for present and future generations.

In 1979, the Veterans of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade and a small group of scholars founded the Abraham Lincoln Brigade Archives (ALBA). Their original goals were modest: to collect and preserve historical sources generated by the experiences of the American men and women who were among the first to fight the fascism that soon engulfed Europe.
