We are passionate about physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health, and the interconnectedness of these parts. We utilize yoga, work with horses, and often eat great food.

There can be freedom in experiential therapies like equine or horticultural methods, as skills like grounding, breath work, and reframing can be transferred across environments. We promote access to mental wellness across socio-economic barriers through sponsorships for clients, as well as sliding-scale fees. Many of the lessons learned in session (horticulture, paying attention to place/mindfulness, etc) are transferable, and therefore may be brought back into families by participants.

Equine services fit in the local culture, but more than this, they are evidence-supported to provide resilience and empathy, improve relationships and improve mental wellness for populations suffering from PTSD, depression, anxiety, ADHD and many other issues. Equine-facilitated psychotherapy has shown effectiveness in the research, particularly with clients who have experienced trauma (whether veterans with PTSD or adolescents with Adverse Childhood Experiences, or ACEs) (Efficacy of equine-assisted psychotherapy in veterans…, Burton, Qeadan, Burge, 2018; Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy Among Adolescents with ACES…,Craig, 2020).

By working within a major sector of Kentucky’s industry (equine services), we aim to enhance mental health service provision while making it accessible to those across socio-economic statuses through partnerships, funding, and fee-based workshops (using the workshops as a source of income).
