FIRST STEP HOUSE

Founded in 1958, First Step House provides evidence-based behavioral health treatment and housing to low-income individuals, veterans, and families in the Salt Lake Valley. First Step House has been a consistent leader in the Salt Lake metro area achieving positive outcomes for the most vulnerable people in our community. We serve people who struggle with high-severity substance use disorders, mental illness, and chronic health issues. In addition to substance use disorders, our clients have histories of homelessness, criminal justice involvement, and mental health disorders. We serve more than 1,450 people annually.

Our evidence-based programs include residential and outpatient substance use disorder treatment, permanent supportive housing, transitional supportive housing and recovery residences, and wraparound supportive services: primary care, employment, peer support services, long-term recovery support, and case management.
